Traditional methods a 21st century approach
As part of our commitment to continuous improvement, Hard York Quarries has a rolling programme of investment into modern computerised and hi-tech equipment. In our saw sheds, overhead cranes, programmable circular saws, diamond tipped mono-blades and frame saws, guillotines and a masons’ shop have all been installed and are continually upgraded to improve production and allow us to provide a range of faster, more efficient services.
Although Hard York Quarries has invested heavily in this processing expertise, we still pride ourselves on the traditional skills of our masons, delvers and dressers.
Stone blocks from the quarries are cut into slabs using primary saws, and then circular saws are used to produce paving, kerbs, heads, cills etc. The sawn stone may then be worked further to produce virtually any shape or finish required.
Our masonry department has a long list of services available, including bull-nosed steps, hand fettled riven flags, curved ashlar, moulding, carving and lettering.
At Hard York Quarries we offer the complete service, from stone specification to design and procurement assistance, through to the quarrying and selection of blocks to manufacture and masoning of the finished product.
